Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty rang in her birthday on June 8, 2026, with an outpouring of love from her family. Her younger sister and fellow actress Shamita Shetty took to Instagram to share a series of photos with Shilpa, along with a deeply personal birthday message.
Shamita referred to Shilpa by her family nickname “Munki” in the post, a name that has long been used within the Shetty household. Shamita’s own family nickname is “Tunki.”

In her caption, Shamita wrote: “Happy Birthday my darling Munki my forever blessing for me uve always been the blueprint for strength and grace inspiring me in so many ways. Thankyou for being my sister, my guiding light. Can’t imagine my life without you. Love you to infinity.”
The post drew a strong response from fans and members of the film fraternity, who flooded the comments section with their own birthday wishes for Shilpa.
The pictures shared by Shamita offer glimpses into the bond the two sisters share. In one photo, they are seen twinning in black outfits while posing together at a restaurant. Another photograph shows Shilpa surrounded by a litter of kittens on her lap.
The selection of candid and casual shots stood apart from the usual posed celebrity birthday posts, giving fans a more personal look at the sisters’ relationship.
The sisters have often spoken about how they are each other’s pillars of strength. One moment that stood out publicly came during Shamita’s time on Bigg Boss. During her first stint on the show in 2009, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Shamita learnt about Shilpa’s engagement to Raj Kundra while inside the house. She was visibly emotional and broke down upon hearing the news. Shamita eventually left the show midway to attend Shilpa’s wedding.
Shilpa also received a birthday wish from her husband, actor-businessman Raj Kundra, who shared a special video and wrote: “A different Birthday post this year. Not about celebrations or moments. But about what you truly mean and stand for in my life. Strength when life gets difficult. Grace when emotions overflow.”
Shilpa and Raj Kundra tied the knot on November 22, 2009. The couple welcomed their son Viaan in May 2012. Their daughter Samisha was born via surrogacy in February 2020.
Shamita Shetty made her acting debut with the film Mohabbatein in 2000, which earned her the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year. She went on to appear in films such as Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Zeher, Fareb, and Cash.
On the work front, Shilpa was last seen as a judge on the reality show Super Dancer Chapter 5. She will next appear in a key role in the film KD: The Devil. She is also set to host the upcoming show Maa Hai Na, which premieres on ZEE5 on June 12.
